Most back upwards and sync

Back up and sync is a storage service that automatically saves your photos and videos to your Google Account. These photos and videos will be accessible from any device where you are logged into your business relationship.

Benefits

  • Never lose a memory: Whatsoever photos you have from a device with fill-in enabled will be saved to your Google Account.
  • Automated sync: Any edits you make or photos yous take will exist accessible across any device that you sign in to. If y'all edit and save a photo on your phone, the photograph will expect the same on Google Photos.
  • Fast and powerful search: Y'all can search your photos by the people (when yous've enabled face group), places, and things in them. No tagging is required.
  • Automated creations: Bring photos to life with automatically created movies, collages, animations, and panoramas.

Before you lot get started

What you need to back up photos & videos

  • Good internet connection.
  • File sizes that tin be backed upwardly.  Your files won't be backed upwards if they are:
    • Photos larger than 200 MB or 150 MP
    • Videos larger than 10 GB.
    • Items smaller than 256 ten 256.
  • File types that tin exist backed upward.
    • Photos: .jpg, .heic, .png, .webp, .gif, and some RAW files.
    • Live photos tin exist backed upward if you apply the Google Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
    • Videos: .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv files.

If you try to back up a file type not listed here, it may not work with Google Photos.

Important: Your Google Account storage is shared across multiple products like Google Photos, Google Bulldoze, and Gmail. If yous accept used all of your storage, yous won't be able to back up new files.

There are 2 ways to back up your phone, photographic camera, or storage menu from your figurer:

  1. Install Backup and Sync.
  2. Upload photos from your browser.

Set up Google Drive for desktop

  1. On your reckoner, download and install Google Drive for Desktop.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Select the folders or pictures yous want to support and thenBack upwards to Google Photos.
  4. Select Done and thenSalvage.

Of import:

  • If you lot remove a photo or video from your computer that you previously backed up to Google Photos, it stays in Google Photos.
  • If you remove a photo or video from Google Photos, it isn't removed from Google Drive or your computer.
  • Uploads can be slower and use more storage if you lot back up to both Google Photos and Google Drive. Unless you demand a second copy in Bulldoze, we recommend you support photos and videos to Google Photos.

If yous already have Backup and Sync for Drive

Backup and Sync is now Google Drive for desktop.

If you already have Fill-in and Sync installed, you'll be migrated to Google Drive for desktop.

To upgrade sooner, uninstall Backup and Sync and then follow the steps to a higher place to set Google Bulldoze for desktop.

Select a different upload size

You tin alter the upload size for photos and videos backed upward to Google Photos from your reckoner.

Of import: Yous can't modify the upload size for files synced with Google Bulldoze.

Back up your Apple Photo Library (Mac only)

If your computer runs macOS, you can support your System Photo Library to Google Photos.

Tips:

  • If yous have more than than 1 Apple Photos Library, simply the System Photo Library will exist backed upwardly. You can apply Apple Photos to change the System Photo Library.
  • If your Apple Photo Library is synced with iCloud, all photos and videos in your library and cloud will be backed up to Google Photos on macOS ten.15 and higher up.

Upload items to Google Photos from your browser

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. At the top correct, click Upload and thenComputer.
  3. Discover and select your photos.
  4. Click Open up.

You tin also elevate photos from your reckoner to the anthology to upload them to Google Photos. If you drag a photograph to a specific album, the photo will be uploaded to that anthology.

View where your photos & videos were uploaded from

In Google Photos, you can view how you uploaded your photos and videos.
